This year’s observance featured the inspiring speaker Pastor Willie Dwayne Francois III, Senior Pastor of Fountain Baptist Church in Summit, NJ, President of the Black Church Center for Justice and Equality, and author of Silencing White Noise: Six Practices to Overcome Our Inaction on Race. The program also included moving and talented performances by CHS Special Dance group and CHS Chorus, music from the Greg Bufford School of Music, readings from interfaith leaders, and a pageant of children shining the light of peace with decorated luminaries. The observance was followed by the Volunteer Fair and a community Luminary Lighting opened by the Meadowland Conservancy.
