Dr. King Observance Delivers Passionate Call to Action

The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race hosts its 23rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Observance at Columbia High School in Maplewood NJ featuring Rev. Dr. Willie D. Francois III plus inspirational performances of the Columbia High School Chorus and Columbia High School Special Dance Company. Local clergy and representatives of the Jewish, Islamic, Christian, Buddhist, Jainism and Ethical Culture faith communities led attendees in affirming excerpts from Dr. King's Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech delivered by him in 1964. The observance ends with a Luminary Lighting ceremony that will expand to South Orange and Maplewood homes and businesses throughout the community to show solidarity with Dr. King's message of justice, peace, and The Beloved Community.
