Support Racial Integration, Equity, & Inclusion

2020 has been an unprecedented year in terms of awakening this nation to its ongoing legacy and persistent applications of racism. Whether in person or virtually, the Coalition rose to the challenges by remaining steadfastly committed to ending racial injustice and promoting true racial integration and inclusion.

We engaged over 5,000 individuals through 30+ programs aimed at providing a space for our community to come learn together and have difficult conversations about race, racism, and racial equity. We held events like: our annual MLK Day Observance; our Black History Month performances in partnership with Progressive Theatre; our Journey to Anti-racism series and follow-up accountability groups; our Talking to Children about Racism program; and our annual Conversations on Race with Jelani Cobb.

Thanks to your support, we educated and engaged our stakeholders around racial disparities in our own community, in areas like health care, food insecurity, and the digital divide. We provided resources directly to the community through over 3,000 printed COVID-19 resource guides, Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention workshops, and mentorship to our Coalition Youth Collective.

Moreover, we addressed ways to undo systemic racism, by providing anti-bias workshops to the business community and other community providers, as well as training over 120 realtors on racial equity at our Realtor Racial Justice Town hall.

The work is not done. We are committed to reaching every corner of the South Orange and Maplewood community to make sure everyone knows that racial integration and true inclusion are benefits to us all, and require all of our dedication.

In the spirit of ensuring a thriving, racially integrated community, please consider making your donation today of $100, $250, $500 or more today to support the Community Coalition on Race.

With gratitude,

Nancy Gagnier, Executive Director
