Talking to Children, Language Matters

October 3, 2019, South Orange Middle School Library, 2nd Fl., 7:30 PM - 9:00 pm

  • Do your children report conversations that trouble you?
  • Have your children experienced ethnic or racial slurs?
  • When are words allowable, funny, or just plain hurtful?

TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT RACE Language Matters!

Join us for a discussion and practical tips on how to approach these topics with your youth, including a presentation by communications expert and educator, Ayesha Gallion, who will be serving as moderator and a panel with MMS Principal Dara Gronau and Columbia High School students. Small group table discussions will follow.

Presented by the SO/M Community Coalition on Race Schools Committee

The program is FREE and open to everyone, but geared toward families of elementary and middle school students. RSVP is appreciated, but not required here.
