Community Celebrates Juneteenth with History, Reflection, and Joy

More than 370 people joined Durand-Hedden House & Gardens and the Community Coalition on Race throughout the afternoon to celebrate Juneteenth with a meaningful blend of education, reflection, and celebration.

The event honored the significance of Juneteenth while inviting attendees to deepen their understanding of the history of slavery in New Jersey through educational exhibits and activities. Families, neighbors, and visitors of all ages came together to learn, connect, and celebrate the resilience, contributions, and enduring legacy of Black Americans.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make the day such a success. Events like these strengthen our community by preserving history, fostering understanding, and creating opportunities to learn from one another.

Have a look at the day in pictures below! Many thanks to Claire Sinclair for the photos.
