The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition in Race is excited to announce that activist Larry Hamm, chair of the People's Organization for Progress (POP), will be leading a virtual Community Organizing for Youth Workshop hosted by the Coalition Youth Collective on Tuesday, December 1st from 6-8 PM. This is a great opportunity for local youth to learn this skill from one of the best.
This event is free and open to all interested middle school through college aged students in SOMA and the surrounding areas. Mr. Hamm will share the basics and real-world tips from his personal experiences. Following his presentation, participants will be divided into small breakout groups by grade level and led by youth facilitators to discuss the presentation, to identify ways to use what they have heard, and to generate questions. Break-out groups will reconvene to direct their questions to Mr. Hamm and listen to his closing comments.
