The Community Coalition on Race’s Residential Committee recently hosted a Roadmap to Homeownership program designed to provide practical guidance and housing counseling for individuals and families considering purchasing a home.
The workshop was presented by wealth manager William Vaughan, a volunteer member of the Residential Committee, and explored topics including homeownership and the racial wealth gap, saving for a down payment, budgeting strategies, improving credit scores, understanding mortgage payments and loan options, New Jersey property tax relief programs, and real-life homebuying case studies.
The evening also featured a robust question-and-answer session, with additional insights provided by other Residential Committee volunteers in attendance, including local realtors, lenders, and banking professionals. Together, the presenters offered participants valuable information, practical tools, and personalized perspectives to help them better understand and navigate the homebuying process.
