Looking for an opportunity to give back to your community? Interested in working with a diverse group of your neighbors? The Nominating Committee of the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race is currently seeking potential new members to serve on our Board of Trustees. Qualifications include your enthusiasm for our mission of integration and inclusion, and a willingness to volunteer your time.
This is truly an exciting way to volunteer. The Coalition on Race’s work touches so many areas of community life: anti-bias/anti-racism training; affirmative marketing projects; developing and working on community events like the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, Luminary Project, & Volunteer Fair, Conversations on Race, and Talking to Children about Race; supporting integrated, equitable, excellent schools; supporting integrated neighborhoods; conducting demographic research; and more. Plus, you will be part of monthly ‘issues discussions’ at our board meetings in which we focus on a topic related to our integration mission.
If you are interested, please email us at [email protected] and put “Board of Trustees” in the subject line. Members of the Nominating Committee will give you detailed information on serving as a trustee.
