Looking for an opportunity to give back to your community? Interested in working with a diverse group of your neighbors? The Nominating Committee of the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race is currently seeking potential new members to serve on our Board of Trustees. Qualifications include your enthusiasm for our mission of integration and inclusion, and a willingness to volunteer your time.
This is truly an exciting way to volunteer. The Coalition on Race’s work touches so many areas of community life: affirmative marketing projects; developing and working on community events like the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration & Volunteer Fair, Conversations on Race, Coffee House Discussions, and Talking to Children about Race; supporting integrated, excellent schools; supporting integrated neighborhoods; conducting demographic research; and more. Plus, you will be part of monthly ‘issues discussions’ at our board meetings in which we focus on an issue related to our integration mission.
If you are interested, please contact our office at 973-761-6116 or email us at [email protected] and put “Board of Trustees” in the subject line. We’ll arrange for you to meet with members of the Nominating Committee who can give you detailed information on serving as a trustee.
