Juneteenth was honored and celebrated in SOMA at the Durand-Hedden House grounds in Maplewood with period reenactors, art, poetry, music and more. The historical exhibit inside the house provided information on slavery in New Jersey, putting the state's complex legislative history regarding slavery and its long road to providing for emancipation. There was so much to experience and learn. Below are some photos from the day. Put Juneteenth on your 2022 calendar--it's not to be missed!
