The light was shining in SOMA after our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Observance. The MLK Luminary Project engaged hundred of households in the towns of South Orange and Maplewood in shining the light of peace. The Luminary Project asks people to take a moment to reflect on Dr. King's legacy and call to service and to share that moment with neighbors.
We are grateful to the luminary planning team, all the neighborhood and block group luminary captains, and the local businesses who made the luminary kits available in their businesses. This broad community commitment makes the Luminary Project possible!
And thanks to all of you who lit luminaries, decorated bags with calls for action on racial justice, and those who used this day to teach family and friends about Dr. King. Have a look at some of the photos from throughout SOMA below!
