The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race stands in solidarity with our Haitian community members during this challenging time. We stand against anti-immigrant hate and the defamatory discourse directed at both Haitian citizens and immigrants. We know that hateful, racist rhetoric targeting specific communities causes harm. As an organization committed to fostering racial, cultural, and social integration, we are dedicated to ensuring that our Haitian neighbors feel supported, valued, and included in all aspects of community life. We recognize the rich contributions of the Haitian community to the cultural and civic fabric of our towns and reaffirm our commitment to building a truly inclusive space where equity, equality, and respect are upheld for all. Together, we will continue to work towards creating a community that serves as a model of unity and justice for the nation.
