The Schools Committee of the Community Coalition on Race is sponsoring Talking to Children About Race. Experienced educators will guide caregivers of elementary school children through conversations about race, identity and community, preparing them to continue the conversation at home. SOMSD teachers are welcome. Professional development hours will be provided. This session will be led by Yves Hart who has been an educator for over 18 years. For the past four, she has served as an Instructional Coach in South Orange and Maplewood schools, supporting teachers and school leaders. Yves is also the founder of Literacy Minded, a consulting company that provides professional development to school districts across the tristate area. She holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is a certified SEED leader. Event limited to 30 spaces. Extra registrants will be placed on a waitlist.
